What is this life all about? What is our purpose for being here and what are we supposed to do about all the tragedy and disappoint? If there really is a God, then why must any of us struggle and / or suffer? Does anyone deserve to go hungry or without shelter? Why are so many stricken with dis-ease and illness? Oddly enough, these questions and many others plagued my mind while watching ‘The Mists of Avalon’ earlier this week. If you have not seen it, the movie takes place in a beautiful British setting with forests, lakes, horses, wealth, poverty and abundance. The King wanted all that was good and right for his people and was about as human as any man could be. There was magic and faith in both the Mother Goddess as well as our God the Father. In other words, it was a absolute experience to behold. On the contrary, it also illustrated all that we are today; afraid, possessing the need to control as many outcomes as possible, no matter the price.
Parallels
Many people, from my perspective, see the belief in magic or a faith in the Goddess energy as witchcraft or at the very least Pagan and against their God. Therefore, the story about King Arthur could potentially be a battle between good and evil; making the Mother Goddess evil. Quite frankly, I witnessed dark / evil energy from both sides; as I do today. I don’t see anyone claiming to be Christian, Muslim Pagan, Pantheist, Atheist, etc to be good when their actions as well as their wishes a.k.a. thoughts seek to control the results
The Saxons, otherwise considered Barbarians, Heathens, Infidels wanted to overthrow Camelot. The Christians wanted to eliminate all Goddess worship in order to protect Camelot. The Lady of the Lake, also known as the voice of the Goddess, prophesized the fall of Camelot should the Christians not allow the practice of magic. Therefore, she sought to marry the two beliefs. Interestingly enough, the Saxons sat back and waited. They waited and they watched while the Christians and the Goddess disciples energetically battled it out; attempting to incorporate the two belief systems all the while seeking to prevent being taken by the Saxons as well. In fact, they went to extraordinary lengths just so they could orchestrate various circumstances and assure that neither religion nor heathens would rule their land.
· Saxons ~ barbarians, infidels, any religious devotee not of Christian faith
· King Arthur and his supporters ~ internal conflict, disjointed belief system, modern day Christian worldview
· Lady of the Lake and her followers ~ Pagans, Druids, magic, divination, witches, gypsies, heretics
What I watched was a brilliant representation of what we are doing to ourselves today. We are a world populated by Saxons, Christians, and Pagans; each one with a vision for how the world SHOULD be. While some of us attempt to achieve our desired results with force, others are endeavoring to subversively make something happen by appearing to align with the others. And then, there are those secretly wishing the demise of the others (casting magic). From what I can see, there is no difference between the world as we know it OR the time of Camelot! We just have different technology. The funny thing is our technology IS NOT going to save the planet OR even make a dent in a favorable outcome. Fear begets fear and promotes nothing BUT dark … no matter the belief system.
The Breakdown
The Lady of the Lake was the picture of all things soft and graceful; yet, she was filled with fear. Even though she spoke of saving the world and creating a loving environment, her fear of what could possibly happen made her no different than a Christian or Saxon when it came to protecting their beliefs. Fear is fear and fear is ugly no matter how cute the dress or hair style. This is where I get confused. How can so many people think they are preaching love when the force driving their thoughts, words and actions is fear?
If we truly lived in a state of unconditional love, there would not be any need to retaliate. We would trust in equal energy and KNOW that love balances everything out. We would trust that all we require already exists and our survival is NOT something to fight for OR for that matter, up for sale. We would allow others to thrive as it serves them and love them for the gifts they bring albeit good, bad, ugly or beautiful. We are here for a reason AND we are human which has its weaknesses; the greatest being the need to survive. Because we are so attached to our existence, we go to great lengths to insure it via procreation, birth control, guns, borders, taxes, rules, laws and so on. All of these are our tools of mass destruction. The more one person or group seeks to control, the more another person or group defends their right to live. Unfortunately, THIS is the world we live in.
Conclusion
What is the solution? I am confident many people can assist with tearing down the walls of fear. The energy is shifting. We are in a new paradigm. It is now time to seek forgiveness from WITHIN. You read that right …. Each of us must bless our hearts with forgiveness for ALL the things we may have done or said in the past. In other words, we must first love ourselves unconditionally and come to understand why we did what we did which was fear.
Fear is the opposite of Love AND perfectly natural. It is a primitive reaction necessary for survival; however, the chronic need to survive is killing us. For as good as we have gotten at survival, it is now time to thrive! The ONLY way to achieve this is through the practice of unconditional love towards our self, FIRST ever before we bestow it upon another. That being said, the sooner we embrace and direct light into our hearts, the sooner we are able to unreservedly turn our light in the direction of others. Not needing to dictate the results of any relationship or circumstance is what this world urgently needs. Mother Nature (Mother Goddess) is perfectly equipped to manage our requirements for survival AND our God the Father is ready and willing to infuse our hearts with love so that we may live in peace NOW. Neither Mother or Father wants us to live in darkness; yet, our reactions and need to control the outcome are perpetuating the darkness we are frantically trying to stop. This is NOT our job to do. Our task is to live life with purpose and give up orchestrating another Camelot. God and Goddess have our hearts and backs. Therefore, we have the power to change our reality and create a world founded in Love; in turn, allowing Camelot to return to the mists and remain the shadow that truly defines our Light.
